The first recorded instance of someone answering Jesus’ question “Who do you say that I am” comes to us by way of text–written in ancient Greek letters on papyrus, and preserved in several manuscripts dating from the second and third centuries.  Times and text have both changed a lot since then, but are still an effective means of answering the question.

We’re asking people to contribute their text answers to this question by way of twitter, facebook, or the comment section below.  If you already have a twitter account, you can just post your answer within twitter and add the hashtag #JesusWho at the end of the tweet.  It will automatically show up here in our twitter search widget (in the right hand sidebar of the main page).  If you have a Facebook account you can write on our wall here

  1. Ray Jones says:

I am intrigued by what The Message does with Colossians 1:18-20: “So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds it’s proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe–people and things, animals and atoms–get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood poured down from the cross.”

When I read these words, I wonder if we get it? What if what we have in Jesus is a reality in which all people can experience meaning and purpose? Why have we made the message so much smaller? And why have we chosen the way of the world–force and violence–by which to have life, instead of Jesus’ sacrificial way unto real and lasting life?

  2. Jesus, I confess that you are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Indeed, you are both Savior and Lord. I am yours.

Ultimately, it seems to me that it is more important that I acknowledge who Jesus is by His own self declaration and admission than by who “I” say that He is.
Frances Schaeffer acknowledged that Jesus is Lord, seated at the right hand of the Father, whether anyone believes it or not. He is the Christ whether we preach it or not. He is coming again to judge the living and the dead whether we want Him to or not.
He is the Light of the world, the bread of heaven, the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world whether or not we choose to live in darkness and die without Him. He is the Way and the Truth and the Life whether we follow Him or the father of lies, His enemy.
Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the Last, the Living One. He is the bright morning star, the solid Rock, and our only hope in life or in death. Believe it or not.

Jesus is my life and my salvation, the Good Shepherd and the Great Physician. The Word of God and the exact representation of the Father. In Him God was pleased to fully dwell. He is fully God and fully human, full of grace of truth, sinless yet condemned, crucified yet risen, at once Prophet, Priest and King, forever.

Jesus is who He claimed to be. Believe it or not.

  3. Shirley Seward says:

I say that Jesus is true living word of God, he is the only one that have live a life of suffering and pain. You see in the begining “was the Word and the Word was….with God and the Word was God. John 1:1. Jesus says that I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the Lord. Jesus ever say that he have to leave us, so the Holy Spirit could come into us. To get an full understand of him, Get a relationship with in and study the word for yourself, He is the true living God and savior.

  4. Walter says:

“I am that I am” When I open the compost lid, the fruit flies are there. Adam and Eve, the serpent in the garden, the thoughts that come to man’s mind, thinking that he can actually understand life and know exactly now evolution works. But that kind of knowledge only comes by trusting in God. Knowledge that becomes real by the holy spirit. the formless became form and was God. All you have to do is apply it, receive it and the light becomes light.
